Due Querce is our hillside vineyard in Carpaneto Piacentino, so called for the two centuries-old oaks on its skyline. We purchased it in 1996. Due Querce is a 15-hectare vineyard where we planted Malvasia, Ortrugo, Barbera, Bonarda and Merlot.
The soil composition is mixed: the upper layer is clayey – silty, the deeper layer is clay gravel and sandy gravel.
The training system is the single Guyot.
The area’s climate and soil combine to produce the perfect environment to yield perfectly ripened grapes. The philosophy for our estate wines is that the best wine is produced in the vineyard. Our viticultural practices, maintain low yields, employ hand harvesting while the sugar, acid and taste are all in optimum balance. This allows our unique terroir to show through in each vintage.
Fabio Bernizzoni, agronomist and collaborator of the Istituto di Frutti-Viticoltura of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Piacenza since 2002, is our consultant since 2012. We defined and shared with him the agricultural and technical choices in order to enhance the territory and its grapes.
Moreover, we are creating a sustainability protocol to reduce the environmental impact of wine making, with a direct control on the supply chain and organizing educational events for all the actors involved. His contribution eventually offers us support during the harvesting period.
